The kind owner of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! has invited me to join in on his club’s Citroen cruise in my not-very-French-at-all 1969 Chrysler Newport. I’m hopeful that the abundance of 2CV’s and H Vans means that for once, I won’t be the slowest car in the group. I can’t wait!

I don’t know, I’ve always thought Chrysler was the most intrinsically French of the big three. Even without their having had a major division in France in years past. I thought they should have revived the Renault thing when they bought AMC for old times’ sake.
Every Chrysler I’ve ever worked on: “Okay, I understand how you did it like that and why it works. What I don’t get is why you did it like that and how you came to it. ” Even 60s models - stuff like the reverse thread lugnuts. What In. The. Fuck.

Good point. Chrysler corp. was always a bit strange. And the left-threaded lugs on my car are maddening! I always forget which side has them. Other odd touches include a left-handed key and a speedometer needle that swings upside-down.

The first car I ever drove was a 63’ or ‘64 four-door Fury, I think with a 318. Push-button auto, and of course the left-handed lugs, etc.

Those reverse threaded nuts keep the wheels from exploding!

Then they’ve done their job, bless them. I’ve never seen a Chrysler with an exploded wheel, so well done.

It also keeps people from buying inferior non-chrysler lug nuts from knock off brands. At least for one side of the car.

It doesn’t prevent people from replacing their lug wheels with fake knockoffs, though, so there’s a flaw.
